Kim Demuth
Industrial Zen
22 June - 28 July 2012
Industrial Zen presents a series of symmetrical, three dimensional spaces, each work drawing the viewer into its centre, a hypnotising void. For this exhibition Kim Demuth develops his practice of digital and material manipulation of photographs, this time to investigate synthetic interiors. These industrial spaces take on new meanings as they are rendered in terms of the compositional arrangement of colours and shapes. In this way the works nod to the influence of Zen Buddhism in abstract expressionism, creating an antithetical dynamic between photographic evidence and painterly representation.
